Whale Watch

The original Whale Watch building was constructed in 1973. Perched on the cliff edge, overlooking Anchor Bay, Whale Watch features a large living area with circular fireplace and sweeping Pacific overlook. It is now the gathering place for Whale Watch Inn guests, and also used for special activities. The friendly Whale Watch Inn staff provides selected wines and champagnes during our weekly events. There are also two intimate accommodations housed in the building.

"The two acres of grounds and gardens are reason enough to stay at the Whale Watch Inn. All 18 of its rooms are contemporary, with mellow colors & comfortable furnishings. Ours had a living room with a fireplace and a long window seat with a view of the vibrant sea, a bedroom and a deck."

Pacific Edge

A stunning, two story structure, completed in the Spring of 1985. Its cliff side location provides breathtaking views of the Pacific from all eight accommodations housed within. The inn's reception area is located in this building as well.

One couple described their stay at the blissful Whale Watch Inn on the rugged Northern California coast as "...a great place for a honeymoon, even if you aren't on one. The sound of the surf and the fragrance of cypress and pine trees envelop this cluster of contemporary buildings that rests on a bluff 90 feet above the ocean." - Michelle & Tom Grimm

Sea Bounty

Constructed in 1978, Sea Bounty contains two spacious rooms and two condominium type accommodations, self-contained and perfect for longer stays. The common elements of redwood and glass with striking contemporary architecture set the mood for a very private retreat.

Occupying an unusual sunny, banana-belt spot on the coast, Whale Watch inn is five buildings on two wooded acres. Its the stuff of which honeymoons are made. However, instead of the typical single bridal suite, each of Whale Watch Inn's 18 rooms are honeymoon quality." - San Francisco Chronicle

Quest

Completed in the Spring of 1985. This two story structure projects over the steep slope of Ferguson Creek, capturing spectacular views of Anchor Bay and the coastline. Quest contains two rooms, each with private outside entrance.

"The Whale Watch Inn, located five miles north of the pretty village of Gualala and set between Highway 1 and the sea, sets a new standard for intimate and luxurious Northern California lodgings." - Bon Appetit

Cygnet House

Completed in early 1985, Cygnet House contains two accommodations which overlook all of the Whale Watch property and have a commanding view of the Pacific. The design of the two rooms allows for the use of Cygnet House as a two-couple suite. Rates are based on double occupancy, please call for room rates for more than two people.

"That night I checked into my favorite lodging on the whole California coast: the Whale Watch Inn perched on a cliff's edge north of Gualala. In my room was a big whirlpool tub overlooking Anchor Bay and the twinkling lights of the fishing fleet." - Lynn Ferrin, Motorland
