Bed & Breakfast Inn and Spa
Mendocino, California Bed and Breakfast: The Stanford Inn embodies the very best of the rugged Mendocino Coast. Rather than an inn with gardens, ours is a small working certified organic garden and farm with an inn. Yet, in the tradition of the finest inn keeping we offer superior accommodations.

Pets Welcome

Over the years we have had a variety of non human visitors: dogs and cats, of course, but also iguanas, parrots, Vietnamese pot belly pigs, and a tortoise.

Pets are welcome. There is a $25.00 charge per stay, for the first pet. Additional pets are $12.50. We will supply bowls for food and water, litter bags, treat, covers to protect furniture and bedding. Dog beds available on request.

Our rules are simple. Please do not leave your pet unattended in your room without letting us know in case he or she is uncomfortable in new surrounding. We have had doors chewed and badly scratched. Guests have taken care of damage, but the issue is that their pets were unhappy. We find that dogs are most happy in their accompanying their owners when exploring the area. Our weather is cool and with windows left open, no harm should come to them.

Cats are not great travelers, however some are accustomed to traveling and are very comfortable in their traveling carriers.

All our domestic animals have little choice about where they are and how we treat them. We know this and, here, animals come first. We all care about their health and well being and when you are exploring the inn you'll find Dan's Stormy Shadow (Dan), a horse who broke his leg in 1988 and, although his leg is frozen he is happy, a cat, originally called the "Stranger" and now "Stinky Butt," who broke his back and must stay outside due to his condition. You might find a seagull, pigeon on other animal being rehabilitated.

Please remember to keep your pets on a leash. Only Little One is off leash to greet guests dogs and their friends. The inn is home to a ten cats, three Australian black swans, a Toulouse goose, many ducks, two Morgan horses, and ten llamas. We also are home to several raccoons, deer, skunks, opossums, Stellar jays, ravens and a variety of song birds.
