Westport is located 13 miles north of Fort Bragg. It is the northernmost town of Mendocino County's North Coast region. Westport is known for its quirkiest annual event, The Great Rubber Ducky Race, held every Mother's Day. On this day the people living in Westport bring their favorite ducky to eat and have fun.One of the main local attractions is the Sinkyone Wilderness State Park popularly known as "the Lost Coast" because there are no main highways near the vicinity. Westport is also famous for its beaches. The Union-Landing State Beach has a beautiful view of the sunset and it covers 3 miles of rugged and scenic coastline. If you are a camper - finding a campsite is not a problem - there are about a hundred (100) campsites in the area. The city has many nice places to eat and spend an evening. There's Mendocino Cookie Company that serves a wide variety of "hot" beverages such as organic coffee, espresso drinks, etc. with muffins, cookies and other kinds of pastries. They are open 7 days a week and they also have delivery. St. Orres Fine Dining restaurant and Lodging is another place that offers a wild variety of foods. At night, they serve fresh seafood, wines, etc. The interior has a nice decor and features a 30" plant-filled domed tower. They are open nightly at 6:00 PM everyday except Saturdays. Reservations are recommended if you want to experience eating while feeling the nature.
