Sierra City is located in Northern California, high in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. While there a great thing to do is to take 'A Walk in the Sky'. You will ascend over 8,000 ft and be able to see about 100 miles around you in every direction. The 118 acre Big Springs Gardens in Sierra City has some of the most beautiful vegetation and is known for it's natural beauty. Not far from Sierra City is Nevada City which is known for its perfectly preserved mining town. If you are looking for a great home-cooked meal then Bassetts Station is located in the very centre of Tahoe National Forest in Sierra City. Another place that would be good to check out if you are hungry, or even a little thirsty is Herrington's Sierra Pines Resort. They serve locally caught fish from Sierra City's many rivers and has a fully functioning bar.
