California Seals
Enjoy watching the seals at Seal Cove Beach, just over the bluffs from the inn. There are often eight to ten seals fishing in the water. At low tide, the exposed rocks at Fitzgerald Marine Reserve are a favorite place for lounging.
Whale Watching
From January to March, take a guided whale watching tour with Huck Finn Sportfishing tours. Meet at Pillar Point Harbor in Half Moon Bay.
Princeton Harbor
Princeton is the picturesque harbor just two miles to the south following the airport road. It is fun to explore the harbor and observe the boats as they return with their morning's bounty. Fish can be purchased directly from the fishermen, or if you would rather someone else do the cooking, Princeton has some excellent restaurants known for their fish.
Horseback Riding
Half Moon Bay is probably one of the last places where you can ride horses on the beach unescorted. Pony rides for children, beach, trail, sunset rides and guided tours are available at Sea Horse and Friendly Acres Ranch.
Golfing
Two challenging golf courses are located just south of Half Moon Bay at Ocean Colony. The old Links course, designed by Arnold Palmer is $95 Monday through Thursday and $115 Saturday, Sunday and holidays. Golf carts are included in price and are mandatory. The new Ocean course, designed by Arthur Hill is $115. Monday through Thursday and $135. Friday, Saturday, Sunday and holidays. Golf carts are included in price although not mandatory, no pull carts allowed.
Half Moon Bay
Just 6 miles to the south, Half Moon Bay is a quiet, charming farming town. Main Street boasts a feed store, a variety of country shops, art galleries and fine restaurants. The third Saturday of every summer month a colorful flower market is held at the center of town, during winter the market moves indoors to La Piazza. For more antique and art shops, head a few miles east on Hwy 92 to Spanishtown.
