Guests are sure to experience turn-of-the-century charm by the sea at the Old Yacht Club Inn. The Inn opened in 1980 as Santa Barbara's first bed and breakfast and is housed in two historic homes. The original house is a 1912 California Craftsman originally built on the beach boulevard. In the 1920's it was used as the Santa Barbara Yacht Club The house was moved to its current location in 1928. It is the only bed and breakfast in Santa Barbara with a beach location.
The Inn is comfortably furnished with antiques, Oriental rugs, colorful fabrics and wallpapers that capture the warm hospitality that is the trademark of the innkeepers themselves. All rooms, except the Beach House Suite have private bathrooms, some with whirlpool tubs. Enjoy a room with a balcony, patio or private deck to take in the outdoors from your room.
In the evening there is a hosted social hour where guests are invited to meet and enjoy wine and beverages. Fresh flowers and a decanter of sherry welcome you in all guest rooms. The Old Yacht Club House offers five sunny guest rooms and a private cottage in the rear for those desiring extra privacy.
The Hitchcock House offers five guest rooms on the ground level with private entrances and two extra large romantic suites upstairs. The rooms are named after the Innkeeper's families and are highlighted with historic photos and memorabilia.
Dining at the Inn is a memorable experience. Awaken in the morning to the smell of freshly-brewed coffee from a local coffee roaster. Enjoy a full gourmet breakfast individually prepared and served by the innkeepers in the dining room. Breakfast always includes fresh fruit and juice, an omelet or egg dish, home-baked breads or French toast or pancakes. Always available are homemade granola, oatmeal and whole grain cereals. The dining room is set up with tables where you may dine alone or with other guests. The aroma of freshly-baked cookies, breads and coffeecakes frequently permeates the Inn.

There is a large deck on the rear of the Hitchcock House where guests may enjoy the sun and fresh ocean air. The deck is often the gathering place for the social hour in the afternoon. The innkeepers serve wine and soft beverages. This is a time to meet other guests and enjoy the late afternoon hours. The menu book with information from favorite local restaurants is available, and the innkeepers will make recommendations and reservations. Freshly baked cookies are also available!
