The Mountain Home Inn is an eagle's nest perched high above it all on Mt. Tamalpais. Located 25 minutes north of the Golden Gate Bridge, it has sweeping views of San Francisco Bay, the village of Mill Valley 1,000 feet below, and distant mountain peaks. Following a major renovation in 1985, it was named "One of the Ten Best New Inns in America". The inn has always been an oasis for hikers, lovers, poets and creative artists ranging from Jack London to Robin Williams. It lies at the junction of eight hiking and mountain biking trailheads. You can hike down into a rare stand of virgin coastal redwoods, across rolling chapparal, or up to the mountain's peak, all with views of ocean, city or bay.
