Moss Beach, California is located in San Mateo County between Half Moon Bay and Pacifica on Highway 1, and each year the city is host to a wealth of activities and events. In autumn, Moss Beach has an annual Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival in October. And on the first Saturday in May, The Coastside Infant/Toddler Center, a nonprofit childcare center, hosts a dessert tasting that features confections from local restaurants and bakeries, and the evening also includes a silent auction, raffle drawings and live music. Moss Beach also boasts Fitzgerald Marine Reserve, a natural refuge for plants and animals adapted to live at the edge of the ocean, and the city is also home to the Coastal Repertory Theatre for 22 years. This city has even made national television because the Moss Beach Distillery is well known for its famous ghost, "The Blue Lady." In fact, the popular NBC TV series "Unsolved Mysteries" recreated a haunting version of "The Legend Of The Blue Lady" and presented it to the world. For dining, Sam's Chowder House opened in October of 2006 and has since won numerous awards including "Top Three Outdoor Dining Spots in the Bay Area" by San Francisco Magazine, and Sante Magazine's Service Hospitality Award. It was also featured on NBC-TV's The TODAY Show for Sam's famous Lobster Rolls, selected by the Food Editor as one of the five "Best Sandwiches in America".
