Pure Elegance ... In A Wilderness Setting
McCaffrey House a bed and breakfast inn
nestled in a quiet forest hollow in the California mountains, where majestic oak, cedar, and pine trees mark the edge of the Stanislaus National Forest and Emigrant Wilderness.
The Inn is a delightfully warm and charming three-story country home in the California Gold Country and was designed and built by your hosts, Michael and Stephanie McCaffrey. The home is located high in the California mountains, noted for a traditional four-season climate and breathtaking Sierra beauty; all good reasons why the McCaffrey's were first lured here some 38 years ago.
McCaffrey House was built with one essential theme in mind - warmth and comfort. The country-style Inn has a charm that makes every guest feel at home. General gathering areas are spacious and tastefully decorated with a large collection of furniture and art acquired by Michael and Stephanie during their travels. All appointments have such a welcoming touch that they extend an invitation to come often and stay a while.
Accommodations include a full breakfast served in the Inn's dining room. Its warm decor makes the room a friendly gathering place. Guests enjoy a variety of menus prepared by Stephanie. On sunny days, guests may be served on the Inn's spacious deck with its views of the California mountain forests and the sound of the natural stream.
Each guest room is artfully decorated in an accent of colors borrowed from quilts handmade by the Amish of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Each room has a black iron fire stove that provides a cozy warmth on cool evenings and creates a romantic ambiance year-round. All rooms enjoy a private bath with shower/tub, individual thermostats, cable TV, VCR, private phone and modem jack, and some have private balconies or patios. The peaceful forest provides the backdrop from each room's window.
The living room is ideal for visiting, reading or just relaxing around the large fireplace. The comfortable reading area has a wide selection of literature to browse through. In late afternoon, complimentary tea, sparkling cider, wine and cheese are offered.
We are happy to help plan your stay by providing suggestions and maps just for you! Regardless of your favorite time of the year, the McCaffrey House Bed and Breakfast Inn promises to add a new dimension to your leisure time as you explore the magnificent Sierra High Country.
