Mariposa is located in Maripose County at the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Yosemite National Park is located about 43 miles from Mariposa.The Lipizzaner Stallions do an annual show in July at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds. For the Fourth of July the Mariposa Symphony Orchestra does a show on July 5th at the Mariposa Amphitheater. The California Mining and Mineral Museum lets you learn a bit about the history of mining. Miners Inn is a family friendly restaurant with American food, you should try the local favorite of liver and onions. Also, Castillo's Mexican Restaurant is known for their authentic dishes.
