Introduction
Joshua Grindle Inn is a romantic walk through historic Mendocino Village from the majestic Northern California Coast. We plan and prepare a delicious breakfast for our guests here each morning. Our recipes are published in our own cookbook Mendocino Mornings which has been the delight of many visitors and continues to receive rave reviews from numerous magazines.
"You may leave your heart in San Francisco, but you will forget your cares in Mendocino at the Joshua Grindle Inn where we promise that you will be bewitched by the natural beauty and charmed by the famous wines, food and hospitality of Northern California's premier destination!" - Charles and Cindy Reinhart, Owners
The Joshua Grindle Inn is set on a two-acre estate with views overlooking
the Pacific Ocean, Mendocino Bay, and the historic village of Mendocino.
It is not surprising that the Mendocino area has such a romantic pull on the imagination. Many people come here to honeymoon or to retreat from city pressures. The pace here is easy. Without the many distractions of modern life, guests can find time to enjoy the peace and quiet and the salty tang of the sea air. The Joshua Grindle Inn's spacious rooms provide a perfect place to curl up with a good book by a glowing fire. The grandeur of the scenery revitalizes the spirit, giving all the chance to walk down our quiet paths, relax, and enjoy life in a "New England" setting that time forgot. The colorful and lovingly maintained gardens, visible from the rooms, beckon guests to take a pleasant stroll and relax in Adirondack chairs on the lawns. Here guests can enjoy the surroundings and perhaps catch up on some reading, or play a game of croquet.
Guests awaken to a sumptuous full breakfast served in our welcoming breakfast room. This is a time to enjoy conversation with new acquaintances around the c.1830 pine harvest table, while savoring selections from our popular cookbook, Mendocino Mornings. Every morning brings new treats: fresh from the oven muffins or scones, a savory frittata or quiche, a selection of seasonal fruits, as well as yogurt, cereals, locally roasted coffee and herbal teas. For those who prefer to take in the view and morning air, outside seating on the ornate wrap-around veranda is also available. Linger with the innkeepers and fellow guests around our 1800's pine harvest table for Mendocino stories and tips about things to do. After breakfast, guests often choose to take a stroll along the headlands to admire the rugged, mystical, sometimes fog-shrouded beauty of the coast.
