Our AAA Four Diamond rated accommodations and service are unparalleled; our award-winning cuisine is prepared with local organic products and fresh herbs, greens, and vegetables harvested daily from the Inn's extensive gardens. The Inn also produces its own wine under the label Carter Cellars. Carter Cellars specializes in limited production cabernet sauvignons and merlots from some of the finest vineyards in Napa Valley, including the famous To Kalon vineyard in Oakville, California. With a recent 96-point rating from James Laube of Wine Spectator, Carter Cellars' wines are quickly becoming cult classics.

Additionally veteran Napa winemaker, Nils Venge, teamed up with vintner Mark Carter, to open Napa Valley's Envy Estate Winery. Specializing in estate wines including Petite Sirah, Cabernet Sauvignons and Merlot, of which they have eleven acres planted. On premises is a beautiful tasting room which is open to the public every day from 11 am to 4:30 pm. With views of the world famous geyser, the Palisades, vineyards and mountains of Calistoga, California it is a lovely place to visit and enjoy tasting all the wines.

Carter House is pet friendly. Please let us know when you are checking in if you are traveling with your dog. They will receive a special keepsake blanket and water bowl.

Every guest at Carter House Inns receives a fabulous full breakfast including fruit, pastries, coffee, tea, fruit juices and a hot eggs dish each morning (7:30-10 am at Restaurant 301 in the Hotel Carter). Wine and hors d'oeuvres are served each evening (5-6 pm) in the elegant lobbies of the Hotel Carter and Carter House. Turndown with chocolates and tea and cookies by the fire in the Hotel Carter warm you up for a sumptuous night's sleep.

Modeled after a turn-of-the-century Eureka hostelry, Hotel Carter was built from scratch in the mid-1980's, and offers guests every imaginable modern day comfort along with all the charms of a warm European-style auberge. From lux grand suites to cozy really nice rooms, we offer guests a wonderful and unique lodging experience. The Grand Suites all feature whirlpool tubs and fireplaces. Restaurant 301 is downstairs. The Carter Cottage is complete with its own full kitchen, two full bathrooms, and a luxurious master suite bedroom with deep jetted tub for two. The Cottage has two fireplaces and a beautiful living and dining room where we can accommodate your private dinner parties catered by our Restaurant 301. Also, you have your own lovely secluded back deck with a fountain, sitting areas and fragrant flowering fruit trees and jasmine. The Carter House is a re-creation of a mansion which was first built in San Francisco in the 1880's. The Carters gave the gracious 3-story, 5 bedroom mansion a new life in Eureka after discovering plans for it in an antique shop. Mark, being a builder, built the Carter House himself during the early 1980's. It was the original inn, the first of the four buildings that make up the Carter House Inns today. With four common rooms and its own kitchen, the Carter House is a perfect solution for groups such as weddings, reunions and private dinner parties catered by our Restaurant 301. Of course, all room reservations include complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres around the fire each evening, turndown with chocolates, tea and cookies each night and a full breakfast each morning.

The Bell Cottage is an 1890 structure which the Carters lovingly restored in 1992, more than 100 years after it was originally built. The Bell Cottage features 3 gracious suites, each with its own private bath and marble fireplace. A fully-equipped kitchen is available for guests' use, as are the lovely common areas of the Cottage. Every guest at Carter House Inns receives a fabulous full breakfast, Wine and hors d'oeuvres, Turndown with chocolates and tea and cookies by the fire in the Hotel Carter warm you up for a sumptuous night's sleep.

• Carter House Inns is a collection of Historic properties where every guest reservation is both important and special to us.
• A one night deposit is taken upon reservations.
• If your travel plans change and you must cancel your reservation, please call us at least 3 (three) days prior to your arrival date to cancel your reservation.
• Special Events such as graduation and group reservations require a one month advance notice for cancellation to avoid penalty and also include a rate surcharge with some exceptions including custom contracts.
• A $10 processing fee is taken on all cancellations.
• In the unlikely event that you must cancel with less than three (3) days* notice, shorten your stay or check out early, please understand that we must ask you to take responsibility for your entire reservation.
• If we can rebook your room(s), a full or partial refund will be made.
• Rates/policies are subject to change and vary during high impact periods and special requests.
• Check-in: 3 - 6 PM. If arriving after 10 PM, please call ahead to make arrangements.
• Check-out: 11 AM
