We are also located near Palomar Observatory, Anza Borrego Desert State Park, San Diego Wild Animal Park, Lake Cuyamaca and other state and county parks.

Introduction

Butterfield Bed and Breakfast is located in the small mountain hamlet of Julian, California, just 1 hour Northeast of San Diego and approximately 2 1/2 hours from the surrounding Los Angeles areas. Our 5-room inn is secluded on 3 acres and tucked under majestic cedar and oak trees on a serene ivy-covered hillside within the quaint historic district of Julian.

We offer special amenities to our guests in the Back Porch Pantry; refrigerator with cream, filtered water, apples & oranges, and ice, microwave oven, stemware, flatware, complementary coffees, tea, cider, cocoa, popcorn and dessert in the afternoon. Free WiFi.

More Intimate than a Hotel or a Motel...
All guestrooms have private bathrooms and cable television. Three of the guestrooms have wood-burning fireplaces for your enjoyment. Our famous country gourmet breakfast is served in the Garden Gazebo in the summer and by the crackling hearth in the winter. A popular feature of our Inn is the romantic Horse Drawn Carriage Ride into Julian for dinner or through the peaceful countryside. Advance reservations are required.

Winters often bring a dusting of snow, spring sends our extensive rose gardens into full bloom,
summer breezes welcome the starlit nights and fall turns the trees into a blaze of color.
