Agriculture + Tourism in Mancos
Even though Macos/Cortez/Dolores -- all in Colorado -- are considered a high desert climate -- we have plenty of agriculture. Farmers and ranchers take great care with the water they get via ditches, canals and pipelines. I found this lovely article about our county, complete with a link to our county tourism board site. http://www.prweb.com/releases/Agritourism/Colorado/prweb3920424.htm?
The western slope of Colorado (ie the western side of the continental divide) raises wonderul stuff from sweet corn to peaches and wine grapes. Plenty of micro-breweries out here too. We have 2 wineries in McElmo Canyon, for example. One of our friends is rasiing churro sheep. The farmers' markets each summer are getting bigger and more diverse.
Come to see Mesa Verde -- and stay a little longer to experience the diversity.
We'd be pleased to see you at Sundance Bear Lodge this summer or fall!
