Spring is getting a slow start, but it has to kick into gear this month. Right?? Rain or shine, clouds or blue skies, Northfield is always a great place to spend some time relaxing or taking in some live music or local theater. This month offers multiple entertainment options including the annual Girl's Nite Out celebration on Friday, May 6th, and the Contented Cow's May Fly Music Festival (a prelude to the June Bug, coming up next month). It's also a great month for concerts at both colleges as the senior class members give their final presentations in voice and instrumental performances. We have some very talented young people at both St. Olaf and Carleton!

As an alternative to the Twins, you could attend an amateur ballgame as our local teams, the Northfield Knights and The Dundas Dukes take
on some of their neighboring opponents. There is an accessibility to
amateur baseball that you just don't get in the professional arena.
Come spend a warm spring evening cheering on the town teams. They
really appreciate and respond to the enthusiasm!

While you're in Northfield, why not check out Pan Pan, our new international cafe offering a variety of tasty one dish meals with noodles and rice. (I recommend the Spicy Thai Basil Lo Mein and the Pad Thai) For my Secret Deal of the month, (referred to in the title): Book the Summer Suite online for either May 18th or May 25th and receive a $25 gift certificate to Pan Pan. You must include the word "blog" in the comment section when filling in the reservation form and it must be for the Summer Suite, and only on the dates specified. Subject to availability; once the room books the deal is sealed.

For a full list of events, check out the entertainment page on my website or go to northfieldguide.com. Plan your May getaway today!
All single travelers will qualify for a weekday corporate rate of $75
(available Mon-Thur. Room selection determined by innkeeper and
dictated by availability). Meal discounts (described below, can also be
applied)
Last minute weekday reservations for couples, (in your room of choice),
made after Saturday for the upcoming Sun-Thur, will be discounted by
$20. Same day bookings will be $25 less. To lighten your expense (and
your calorie intake) you can pass on the afternoon snack and
complimentary wine or beer and deduct another $5. Reduce breakfast to
continental only (juice, coffee or tea, fruit and pastry or cereal) and
take off another $5. Skip breakfast (coffee or tea only) and subtract
$15.
Lowest available rate (in case your trying to calculate) would be $55
per night in Autumnwood for either a single traveler or a last minute
couple; both passing on the breakfast and afternoon snack tray. And
keep in mind... cookies, sherry, chocolates, and complimentary bottled
water and soda are still included... and all rooms are furnished with a
mini-fridge in case you want to bring your own snacks or beverages.
