March and April

Wow, the March rains have been quick and much needed. The turkeys are out in masses and starting to nest. We now have 5 deer that visit the back pastures, and the wrens are busy in the bird houses. The month has began with some great rides and a new trail being created for the enjoyment of many. ( Thank you to all that helped. ) The team ( General and Shylah ) have been doing wonderful with learning to pull a wagon, so that we won't be having to pull with the truck for much longer. Horse drawn wagon rides will be next. April has a busy start with another couple planning their wedding, western themed and dancing in the barn :) . Spring cleaning is in full force with Mr. Bill painting fencing and stalls, and the regular winter clean-up of the outside from the winter rest. The pool will soon be warm enough for most folks to brave a swim, and the fire pit has been getting a workout with the grill top for cooking. Welcome 2011

2011 came in with some cold yet beautiful days. We have been going out on lots of trail rides as well as having guest that are happy just getting away from the business of life. Relax on the porch with a good book,while the outdoor cats vie for the lap of thier favorite person. The rye grass is in full glory, so green abounds in the yards and pastures. The horses are in the barn durring the day and play out in the pastures at night. If you wish to walk thru the barn and say hi to the horses, ginger snap cookies are a barn treat that can be placed in the feed buckets while you are making new friends.( Please NO hand feeding, it is bad training.) We have 19 horses that are currently calling the barn home, ranging from beginer to advanced level.

February is going to be a real treat, with Valentines Day and Presidents Day giving many 3 day weekends. Don't let this "short" month pass you by without getting in a little bit of fun and R&R. March is also a pleasant time to take a break and get away for a night or two. With the start of Daylight Savings and Spring, the days will be mild and great for cooking out at the fire pit. The gardens will be growing back with fresh blooms and the birds will be nesting in the birdhouses scattered around the trees.

Winter Wonderfull

The cooler weather has arrived and brought with it some busy weekends. Book early for your trail ride or weekend get-away as we are filling up fast. Durring the mid week is still a bit slower, so if you like a more one on one type stay, those days are when to come. We are still on Facebook, so you can check out former guest comments and pictures or go to Trip advisor and look up Bushnell, Cypress House. We do not edit what guest put on either, as we have nothing to be afraid of that is posted. It is also not to eary to start thinking of our GIRLS summer camp, as they tend to fill up quickly. Cruise time!

Jan is going to "sailing" away on a river cruise leaving on Sept.28th,2011 from Amsterdam to Buchares down the Rhine River. The cruise wil last 28 days and is with "Vantage travel". As she is leaving me to keep the horses in line, she is looking for a cabin mate who can pay her own way. This also means a great discounts on the B&B rates while she is away! Sorry, I don't cook, so no breakfast. Horses will still be going on trail rides, lessons, the shopping and flea markets will be busy for the fall, and the pool will be open. So call us soon to book a stay or if intrested in joining Jan on the cruise.

Summer camps

Summer camps have started out with a great first week. Second week started today. So many return and new young ladies make for a great time for all. The girls enjoyed a wagon ride after campfire on the first full day.The horses and new english ride instuctor, Karen,have been giving them plenty of learning and chance to get new skills or improve on their horesmanship.The daily care and feedings, saddle time,and swimming have kept them busy and happy. Looking to another great summer in camp.

Gardens

Wow, the weather has been just great for being outside enjoying the gardens. The daylillies are in bloom and the knock-out roses have been planted. Come sit in the swing or on the porches and watch the hummingbirds feed. In the evening hours, the frogs and bats come out to play. If you enjoy company, one of the outdoor cats may just sit with you to be brushed. (We keep brushes on the porch.) The horses are all enjoying mowing the spring grass in the pastures. In just a short time, we will be having our girls summer horse camps.

Summer camps

Getting ready for another year of camps. Girls ages 9-13 join us for week long sessions. CHHORSECAMP.COM . Ride both english and western, horse care, barn management, LOW jumps, games, swimming, campfire and a show for the parents at the end of the week. Fun for all and make new friends and memories with people that share your love of horses.

Hi everyone, It has been a great week here at the ranch. We started the week with a GS troop on a year end trip, and ended it with picture perfect weather and great guest. We had lot's of riders this week as well as a few "porch sitters" enjoying Spring. The gardens are starting to come back to life after a cold winters nap. Baby bunnies and nesting birds are out and about. We have seen lot's of deer on trail, and are looking for the new ones to be arriving soon. Oh the blessings of spring that we get to share. So shake off your winter coats and come join us for a relaxing day of fresh air.

Welcome weekenders

Welcome weekenders. We are close to lot's of fun weekend activites, including flea market, auto swap meet, auction house, canoe, hiking, paved bicycle trails, and of course horseback riding in the Withlacoochee Forest. There is also gio tracking and off road bike trails, as well as the Croom motor cross trails. Plenty of daily activity's to do before settling back to relax at the B&B for a quiet night of rest.

Riding Lessons

Sunday afternoons are busy with our English Instructor, Karen, Or Western Instructor, Amy, teaching lessons to both kids and adults.Horseback riding lessons start at just $20.00 per hour as a group lesson of 2-5 people per group. Private lessons start at $45.00 per hour. Student's use ranch horses or their own and are responsible for getting the horse ready and putting it away afterward. For an extra fee the horse can be taken care of for you. Come watch a lesson and join a group to learn more about horsemanship and improve your skills or ride for the first time!
