December 5, 2010 will be our 8^th Annual Christmas Tea and Tour with Santa! Come out and help support the Haven of Hope fundraiser. The Haven of Hope assists victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in our community.

As a special invitation the Colonel Taylor Inn Bed & Breakfast opens their doors to the public for this very special Haven of Hope Benefit from 1-4PM the first Sunday of December each year and It is the only day of the year the Taylor Mansion is open for tours! So come celebrate our Victorian Christmas Tea & Tour.

Our tour guides dressed in Victorian costume will tell you the history of the historic Taylor Mansion while touring you through the Inn's three floors with almost 9,000 sq ft of living space with 11 fireplaces & 26 rooms... Enjoy the tree decorated at it's finest, the stockings hung by the Chimney with care, garland wrapped around the beautiful stairwell, fireplaces adorned with Christmas finery along with all the Wreaths, candles, ribbons & décor of the season!

One of the favorite Christmas traditions at the Colonel Taylor Inn is enjoying afternoon tea in the Inn's spacious and inviting parlors & formal dinning room. Our pianist & carolers will be singing live, their favorite Christmas tunes, as the fire crackles, guests settle into the comfortable sofas and armchairs to enjoy heaping trays of cookies, tea sandwiches, fruit, cheeses, nuts, homemade fudge and other fresh baked pastries along with tea, coffee & punch.

We will even leave a plate out for Santa as he will be there with our photographer for photos!

Apple Strudel for fall...

Wrapped Apple Pie with Puff Pastry
Pre-heat Oven to 400*
All-purpose flour, for rolling out one sheet of puff pastry from a 17.3 ounce package, thawed.
On a lightly floured work surface, unfold pastry; roll out to a 12 by 14 inch rectangle. Place on baking sheet lined with parchment and refrigerate.

Filling:
3 pounds Gala or Fuji apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced.
1/2 cup Sugar; 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon; 2 Tbs Butter;
In a large skillet, melt butter over medium, add apples, sugar & cinnamon. Increase heat to medium-high; cook tossing occasionally, until apples are tender and liquid has evaporated, about 15 min.
Spread filling on a second rimmed baking sheet and let cool completely.

Fill pastry with apple filling in center, then fold pastry around the filling. Turn pastry over, seam side down.
Melt 1 Tbs butter and brush on top of pastry, then sprinkle on some sugar. Cut steam vents in top of pastry. Bake 35-40 min. Let rest 10 min before serving

Upon returning from their honeymoon they discover that Austria has been invaded by the Nazis, who demand the Captain's immediate service in their navy. In the bountiful array of children's literature, no author is better known than the Greek story teller, Aesop. A former slave who was physically disfigured and suffered from a speech impediment, Aesop possessed a rear and valuable knowledge; he could read and write. By his wit and cleaver turn of phrase, he was freed by his master and became known for his storytelling. Using animals as characters, he served up life lessons and morals that are still relevant and entertaining today. In this production, Aesop is an old man recalling three of his best-loved stories re-told by a cast of life size puppets-and you! Following the performance Aesop will stay to discuss his animal friends and answer questions.
