Introduction

Desert Trails Bed & Breakfast borders Saguaro National Park and the Rincon Wilderness but is only fifteen miles from downtown Tucson. Located on the eastern end of Speedway Boulevard we are just far enough out to get away from the noise and traffic of the city yet close enough that a short drive takes you to some of Tucson's finest restaurants.

Situated on three acres of desert, in the shadow of the Rincon Mountains where the cacti of the Sonoran Desert give way to the mesquite bosques of the Tanque Verde Valley, Desert Trails' goal is to provide guests a relaxing stay in a casual, rural setting.

Saguaro Outside you'll find an enclosed courtyard, patio areas, picnic tables, and a swimming pool where you can enjoy the tranquility of the desert without leaving comfort behind. Sociality or seclusion: the choice is yours.

Hiking trails, horseback riding facilities, and birding are minutes away and your hosts, Steffi (a working astronomer) and John (a ne'er-do-well anthropologist), are experienced backpackers who will be happy to help you plan your outings.

Inside our adobe, hacienda-style home you'll find rustic woodwork and cathedral ceilings; hardwood, brick, Saltillo tile floors; and the works of noted local artist and astronomer William K. Hartmann.

Our guest-rooms are eclectically furnished with your comfort foremost in mind: each has a private bath with shower and tub, queen-size or larger bed, and TV/VCR should you wish. A refrigerator and separate phone line are provided for guest use.

Our most spacious guest room, the Mica, has a king-bed, fireplace, ceiling fan, and sunken bath. For groups, The Guesthouse, located 100 feet from the main house, can sleep up to 4 people.
