Good Restaurant Finds in Davis, WV

Davis, WV is a rural town in the mountains, and it's delightful whatever time of year you visit. It's cool in the summer because it has the highest altitude of all towns in West Virginia. It has great foliage in the fall and lots of snow in the winter. In the spring the native plants bloom, making for wonderful scenery. The restaurant is located in the mountains, in an area best reached by plane or helicopter, unless you are into mountain climbing. But it's worth the trip just for the barbecue, steaks and other specialties. Make sure you are hungry when you dine here. It is open for breakfast, (they have terrific waffles!) lunch and dinner and is a great place to eat after spending time hunting or fishing. It is probably a good idea to make reservations for dinner here. After dinner you may want to hurry back to your Davis inn for a good night's rest before your next adventure.

With an arcade for the kids and great food, who wouldn't want to eat here? If you dine on the outside deck, be sure to check out the geese and catfish in the pond. You can order anything from hoagies to burgers and pizza. But those in the know say the hoagies are the best deal. Don't forget the specials that are posted every day. The portions are enormous and that may be one reason the locals flock here on a daily basis. You might say that Big John's is an institution in Davis, and you would be spot on.

You can get a meal-sized burrito here or opt for the tacos instead. Whatever you order, you'll find homemade ingredients and authentic Mexican food. And with a name like that, you know that you can count on some of the entrees being a tad spicy. The restaurant has a large menu, and includes many vegetarian offerings. The owner definitely wants to please and will make your food to your specifications. It's a great place for kids, too, with its little person's menu. There's a bar where you can cozy up if you prefer that option to a table. After dinner, enjoy a brisk walk back to your lovely Davis bed and breakfast for a good night's sleep.

After a long day skiing, you can count on tiny Sirianni's Cafe to come through with the best pizza you've ever had. It's crunchy, cheesy and oh, so good! It is a favorite of locals and tourists, and it is usually crowded, so a wait might be in store. Make sure to bring cash, since the cafe does not take plastic, but it's definitely worth the trouble.
