The much-anticipated Strawberry Festival has been around for more than a century. The events held at the festival include arts and crafts, food and music. Parades, carnival rides and other family things add to the festivities. But the biggest attractions are the tasty strawberry desserts and other good eats. Strawberry sundaes, pancakes and funnel cakes are just a few of the foods to try. You're welcome to come to this festival and join the locals as they kick off the summer. The Vashon Island Garden Tour takes you through six different gardens in very unique settings. One garden is located on an 1890s homestead, while another is found in a garden compound. Tours also include daily seminars and live entertainment. The 2011 prices for the tours are $25 per person for both Saturday and Sunday. First Friday is a monthly event that happens on Vashon Island. Art galleries and centers open their doors to the public for an evening of festivities, cheese and wine. Kids are welcome to browse the art with their parents as well. Once you get there, you'll see plenty of art and culture as you walk to each restaurant, cafe, gallery and store that exhibits art. The three-hour event begins at 6:00 p.m. and ends around 9:00 p.m. or so.

Every Thursday you can go to Summer Concerts at Ober Park. This weekly event is free to the public and provides three hours of entertainment throughout the summer months. Past performances have included music, theater, dance and many more types of entertainment. All events occur on the Ober Park Stage from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Some performances, such as the theater plays, may be presented for several days or more.
