At the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium, you will find a variety of animals from all over the world. Visit the aquarium for North Pacific and South Pacific marine animals. You can visit the discovery center and actually touch a sea urchin or dissect a squid. General admission for adults is $13.50. You can rent wheelchairs, umbrellas, scooters, and strollers for the day. This is a great way to spend a day before retiring to your Gig Harbor Bed and Breakfast.

3. Wild Waves and Enchanted Village

Wild Waves is not only a water park, but also an amusement park. They offer many rides including a wooden roller coaster, thrill rides, and even bumper cars. There are rides for the whole family. Coast down the giant waterslides, raft rides, or relax in the pool. General admission tickets for the 2010 season were $39.99 for adults. Kids were admitted for $31.99, with parking at $10 per day. This is a great place for family fun and just a short distance from your Gig Harbor Inn.

4. Washington State History Museum

The Washington State History Museum is a great place to learn about the state’s history. The building itself is a masterpiece in the architectural world. There are interactive exhibits, displays, and artifacts that will give you insight into the state’s history. The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Adult admission is $8.00. The museum is a fun and interesting addition to your Tacoma travel itinerary from your Gig Harbor Inn.

5. Working Waterfront Maritime Museum

Visit Discovery Wharf at the Maritime Museum for port play, boat building, and Sea Star lab for children ages 4 through 10. You can view displays of maritime artifacts and watch the construction and restoration of small watercraft. The museum is open from Wednesday through Sunday with a $6.00 fee for adults. Children can get in for $3.00. This is an interesting and educational place to see before heading back to your Gig Harbor Inn for the night.

6. The Grand Cinema

This is a non-profit house theater that prides itself in the art of film. You can see a variety of shows for a general admission price of $8.50. New films open every Friday. This is about a 30-minute drive from your Gig Harbor Bed and Breakfast, and another addition to your Tacoma travel itinerary.
