The largest living history museum, Colonial Williamsburg is where you can see a live actors dressed in clothing from the 18th century and reenacting events from that time in history. There are over 400 buildings here all reconstructed to the 1700s. Popular tourist attractions are the Governor's Palace, the Capitol, and the Museums of Colonial Williamsburg.

If you will have a car while you are staying at your Williamsburg bed and breakfast, take a short 20 minute trip to this museum in Newport News. Here, you can learn everything there is about maritime history. There are over 30,000 items including artifacts recovered from the USS Monitor, a Civil War ironclad. Other pieces include ship models, figureheads, and memoirs from human experiences.

In 1607, Jamestown was the capital of Virginia. Here, you can read and learn about that time. At the visitor center, there are exhibits and a theatre presentation about the history of this city. There are driving tours as well where you will most likely see a bald eagle, deer, or heron. Also, be sure not to miss the excavation where archaeologists are looking for James Fort. This art gallery has been showcasing contemporary art for over 40 years. They house paintings and sculptures from national and regional artists. They showcase student artists as well.
