The Vermont Theatre Company began producing Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" in 1990 at the Rotary Ampitheater in Living Memorial Park, and still puts on plays here as part of Shakespeare in the Park. This general admission show is only $5, with shows beginning at 6 p.m. The Vermont Theatre Company, a nonprofit theater organization, offers plays ranging from comedies to dramas, spanning all genres, from classic to contemporary. Its talented seasoned performers can also be seen at the Hooker-Dunham Theater, also in Brattleboro, as well as area theaters throughout the region.

To view young up-and-coming talent, check out New England Youth Theatre, comprised of children and adults working together to produce quality plays and musicals. The idea behind NEYT is that children can run their own theater with guidance from older theater professionals. They run the whole show, from choreography and lighting to directing and acting. This refreshing group of kids puts on inspiring plays like "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" and "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." New England Youth Theatre also hosts classes, a theater adventure program, mentor program and scholarships.
