A smaller but still entertaining park to visit is the Hillsboro City Park. The 20 acre park has a calming creek that runs through it as well as a jogging path lined with trees and plants. This Hillsboro park is perfect for biking, skateboarding and rollerblading. It has pavilions to rent for picnics, birthday parties and other special events. Practice fields and baseball fields can be rented as well. One of the more unique sections of the park is the "musical park," which features outdoor drums, xylophones and an area for the audience to sit back and enjoy the music. Your kids will love this distinctive area where they can express their musical talents. There is also a larger, more traditional playground for the kids. The Hillsboro City park is open and lit until 10pm, as are the tennis courts.

The Aquilla Lake Recreation Area is a 3,289 acre natural area with many interesting activities and sports to do. Boating is a very popular sport there, and Aquilla Lake has three public boat ramps. Fishing is also common, especially on the public fishing pier below the dam, but also from boats and along the shores of the lake. Some visitors prefer to bird watch, hunt or observe the wild animals and plants native to the area. There are many paths along the lake.
