If you are planning to visit your favorite Charleston, South Carolina bed and breakfast the weekend of March 22nd through the 24th, you are in for a real treat as there is a lot going on! 9th ANNUAL BATTLE OF CHARLESTON

It is the 150th sesquicentennial remembrance of the American Civil War and what better place to celebrate a legacy than in Charleston South Carolina! Legare Farms in coordination with the 7th SC Infantry present the 9th Annual Battle of Charleston, a reenactment of the Battle of Bloody Bridge, also known as the Battle of Burdens Causeway which lasted from July 6th - 9th, 1864.

The events on Friday, March 22nd celebrate Education Day in Charleston and children from all across the area will be in attendance.

Those lucky enough to be there at 10am on Saturday March 23rd may attend the real wedding of the Captain Gary Wycoff and his bride Anna Potts, done in period style followed by a ladies social and artillery demonstration and then the battle begins at 2pm. Civil War enthusiasts will enjoy the Battalion Drills and the Gullah Reenactments.

Sunday's festivities begin with a Morning Parade, a Church Service and the final presentation of the Battle of Charleston.

General Admission is $10.00 for anyone over the age of 12. Admission for Children 5 to 12 is $5.00 and Children 4 and under is Free.

66th ANNUAL FESTIVAL OF HOUSES AND GARDENS


It's a weekend of exploring Charleston's history and what better place to be than at the 66th Annual Festival of Houses and Gardens! Set in the Old & Historic District, the festival (which will continue through April 20th) offers walking tours of historic homes and exquisite gardens on King, Meeting, Wentworth, Anson, Tradd Streets and an East Battery Tour; tours of the Nathaniel Russell House and the Aiken-Rhett House Museums; as well as the Gardens, Galleries & Gourmet which includes a courtyard reception that features The Lee Bros. Charleston Kitchen.

Once again it is time for the Beaufort Twilight Run and Oyster Roast! This is a big hit, even if you don't participate in the 8K Run or 5K Fun Walk, which kicks off at 6:15pm on Saturday, March 23rd, you can at least enjoy the Oyster Roast and Live Music from 6:30pm to 10:30pm hosted in the Habersham Marketplace.

Oyster Roast Tickets purchased by March 20th are $28 per person and $30 on the day of the event.
