Newport Restaurants: Newport on the Levee's Must-Eat Places

Located in Newport, Kentucky, the Newport on the Levee entertainment center offers many different types of Newport Restaurants. The operating hours of this center are from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on most days, and the center opens an hour earlier during the summer (June 1st to August 31st). Newport on the Levee is located right by the East Row and Monmouth Historic Districts, so it might even be close to your Newport Bed and Breakfast. BBOnline recommends these 3 must-eat places at the Newport on the Levee:

AOI Japanese Cuisine
Newport on the Levee
1 Levee Way
Plaza Level on the Valet Circle
Newport, Kentucky  41071
Phone: (859) 431-9400

AOI Japanese Cuisine prides itself not only on the great taste of its Japanese Cuisine and sushi, but also on the fact that Northern Kentucky consistently ranks them in the 98th percentile whenever an inspection takes place. Established in 2004, AOI Japanese Cuisine owes most of its success to its highly trained master sushi chef Shigeyoshi Midorikawa (better known as Midori), who received professional sushi certifications in the Ginza neighborhood of Tokyo in Japan. Midori's career spans over 30 years and he has worked not only in Tokyo and Kentucky but also in Florida. A must order item from the menu is the Sashimi Sampler (it costs $13 and includes delicate cuts of 7 different types of raw fish) and the Spicy Scallop ($8.50). Make sure to ask for the specials during special occasions such as Valentine's Day and Thanksgiving Day.

Mitchell's Fish Market

Newport, Kentucky  41071

Another great example of Newport Restaurants is Mitchell's Fish Market on the Levee, because it serves only the finest and freshest seafood. This restaurant has been recognized by local and national publications to be among the best Newport Restaurants for seafood. The 2005 Richard Melman Concepts of Tomorrow Award is the highlight of the restaurant's many awards. When visiting Mitchell's Fish Market, BBOnline recommends the "Under $4, After 4" happy hour because it offers 8 great dishes for just $4.00 each, and a good selection of local and imported wines, beer bottles, micro brews, draught beers and cocktails (try the Fish Market Mojito). A local favorite is the Surf and Turf Special, which for about $28.00 combines a 6 ounce fillet with either a Crab Cake, a Shrimp and Scallop Skewer, or a Lobster Ravioli.

Dewey's Pizza
Newport on the Levee
One Levee Way
Mezzanine Level inside the Gallery Building
Newport, Kentucky  41071
Phone: (859) 431-9700

Families traveling with small children and teenagers find Dewey's Pizza a good choice to unwind for the day before heading back to their Newport Inn. Dewey's Pizza has several locations, but the one at the Levee has a great atmosphere, especially after a post-game celebration from a victory from either the Reds or Bengals. BBOnline recommends pairing up a visit to Dewey's Pizza after a visit to the Newport Aquarium, because kids love watching sea life and eating pizza. Another reason to take kids to this pizzeria is the fact that they can view how their pizzas are made from scratch. In 2008, the Zagat rating for Dewey's Pizza was very good to excellent. Plan to spend about $18.00 per person when visiting this pizzeria.
