Terre Hill Park is located in Terre Hill in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, right in the middle of Dutch Country. The park is maintained and kept up by the Terre Hill Days Committee, which is a volunteer organization. While staying at any Terre Hill inn during the warmer months, you can enjoy a picnic in this park. It has many beautiful areas where you can lay down a blanket and have a nice picnic. Terre Hill Park features the Community Timbers Playground for children, picnic pavilions that can be rented by large groups, basketball and tennis courts, playing fields and a fitness trail. In addition, several yearly Terre Hill community events are held in the park.
Terre Hill Days
Terre Hill Days takes place at the park for five days in July. It features food, concession stands, various carnival games and midway rides. The event starts off with a parade in downtown Terre Hill that ends up at Terre Hill Park. Other events that take place during Terre Hill Days are tug of wars, an outhouse race, a reptile and animal show, a pie eating contest, chainsaw carving, bingo and live musical entertainment. A fireworks display takes place after 10:00 p.m. on the Saturday. On Sunday of the festival, a community church service is held in the park under a tent.
Lunch in the Park
Lunch in the Park is held on the last Friday in July and all Fridays in August. It takes place under the main park pavilion at Terre Hill Park from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The menu includes hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches and steak sandwiches which can be purchased. Soup, desserts and drinks are also available.
Fall Harvest Parade
The Fall Harvest Parade takes place in late October. The parade begins in downtown Terre Hill and ends up in Terre Hill Park. It features several floats and children in costume. The children's costumes are judged and prizes are awarded for the best ones.
Community Egg Hunt
The Community Egg Hunt takes place at Terre Hill Park at Easter time. It is a free event for children age 12 and under. The children are separated into four groups and sent to different areas of the park at different times.
Terre Hill Haunted Trail
The Terre Hill Haunted Trail is created every year just before Halloween. It is a ¼-mile trail that features ghosts, ghouls, actors in costume and special effects. Your children will enjoy this yearly event. If you book a Terre Hill bed and breakfast in the area, it can guarantee the family a comfortable place to stay for the night.
