The Longwood Gardens are known as one of the most fascinating arboretums in the world. It consists of 1,050 acres of magnificent gardens with impressive horticultural displays, as well as meadows and walkways. One of the highlights of the gardens is The Conservatory, a 4-acre conservatory that ranks among the top greenhouse structures in the world. It houses 20 indoor gardens and more than 5,000 different species of plants. There are also a number of beautiful fountain gardens that must not be missed, and they include the Main Fountain Garden, Italian Water Garden and the Open Air Theater Fountains. The gardens are home to the famous Pierce-duPont House, a splendid building that dates back to 1730. A leisurely tour of the entire arboretum will take 4 to 8 hours.

The Longwood Gardens are located about 3-1/2 miles east of downtown Kennett Square. To get there from your Kennett Square Inn, you have to travel east on the Baltimore Pike. Right after you pass the Longwood Cemetery, turn left and you will see the gardens soon.
