Whether you are looking to play a round of golf or just hit some balls at the driving range, come on down to the Urbana Country Club. You'll find an 18-hole golf course that is considered regulation length. The course isn't as long as others in the area, but provides some challenging holes. Beginners would even do well on this course because of how forgiving it is. Green fees for the course are about $74.

Meadow Lake Resort is open from April 15 to October 31 each year to visitors. Each car that enters the park will need to pay a usage fee. Early in the morning you can head down to the lake to enjoy some fishing, but to catch the best fish leave your Urbana Bed and Breakfast before dawn. Once things begin to heat up in the afternoon you can head on down to the swimming hole for a quick dip.

Open Wednesday through Sunday, Cedar Bog is a great place for nature lovers to go. Cost of admission is $4 for adults and $3 for kids ages six to 12. Inside Cedar Bog you will find a boardwalk that allows you to get an up close and personal view of some of the plants and animals that live in the wetlands. There is also a guided tour for visitors to take so they can learn more about the native plants and animals of Cedar Bog.

If you want to leave your Urbana Inn for a day in the outdoors, Buck Creek State Park is a great choice. You can hike all day on the four miles of hiking trails that are provided. There is also a seven-mile trail available for snowmobilers in the winter, or for horseback riders in the warmer months. Water activities are another popular choice at Buck Creek, which include swimming and boating in the 2,120-acre park.

For another golf outing while you're staying in Urbana, travel over to Springfield to check out the Reid Memorial Park Golf Course. This course offers golfers two 18-hole regulation courses. The North course is the more difficult one because of the hazards that come into play, including sand bunkers and trees. The South course has no sand or water hazards nor does it have any hills, so it's a perfect course for beginners.
