Just a short drive away from your Madison Bed and Breakfast sits the finest of all minor league stadiums in the nation, Louisville Slugger Field. Named after the famous Louisville Slugger Bat, this field was built in 2000 in hopes to renew the baseball traditions of yesteryear. Take me out to the ball game has a whole new meaning when it comes to this stadium. Enjoy the purely American baseball tradition with hot dogs, soft pretzels and peanuts. If the children are being a pain, send them off (with an adult of course) to the playground or carousel for some fun of their own. Tour the stadium for just $1 to learn how it got its unique look and the history of its name. With affordable tickets ranging from $6 to $11 per person, you can even stop by for a Louisville Bats game. Parking can be found at nearby lots and parking garages, and Sunday parking at the garage across from the field is free.

If you would prefer something a little more outdoorsy, try E.P Sawyer State Park, named after a Jefferson County Judge Executive. This state park offers anything and everything imaginable from a model airplane field, to an archery range and astronomy center. An Olympic sized pool is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day as well as a 600-seat gymnasium that offers amenities such as badminton and basketball courts. There are also 12 outdoor tennis courts that can be reserved up to 6 months in advance and a community center perfect for business meetings and family reunions. Entry and parking are both free.
