Set out on an exploration of the Hickory Nut Fall trail. This mountain waterfall is a highly visited spot in the Chimney Rock Park. You and your friends can climb the well marked out trails and enjoy the scenic vistas on the way. Pass through the dense oak wood forest and enjoy the other plant life that surrounds you. The basswood and maple stretch will leave you refreshed. The migratory birds make this mountain their home, hence you will be able to spot several rare species of birds. Skyline Trail

The Skyline Trail will take you to the highest summit in this park. Located on a beautiful mountaintop, this exploration will truly cast a magical spell on you. The 20-minute uphill exploration might be strenuous but the vista that awaits you will justify the effort. The view from a height of 2480 feet is truly remarkable and this is the highest summit in the park. Pack your camera and binoculars before you set out from your Rutherfordton Bed and Breakfast.

The Four Seasons trail will have you explore the rocky mountain in Chimney Rock Park. Make your way through the hardwood trees and walk on the grass. Keep your eyes open for the animals that inhabit this area and enjoy the beautiful flowers and plants that surround you. The mountain is home to wild turkey and deer. The top of this mountain can be accessed all year round and makes for a great place to spread out a picnic with the beautiful valley as the backdrop.

The Outcroppings trail at Chimney Rock Park is an easily accessible part of your mountain exploring adventure. The pathways are paved keeping in mind the convenience of the older guests or those who are physically challenged. Even though the exploration is easy, as there are proper roads, it makes for an exciting climb. You will pass several attractions of the park on the way to the summit. The Moonshiners’ Cave waits for you half way and the Devil’s Head offers a spectacular view of the neighboring mountain trails.

The Great Woodland adventure is an area in the park located on a smaller mountain that offers visitors an insider’s view into the wildlife that inhabits this forest. You can watch as the chipmunks play and run around in their natural surroundings. Explore the mountain further to watch the various birds that are soaring high. Watch carefully as butterflies float all around you.
