This wonderful historic museum offers fabulous exhibits and historical displays, one of the many things to do in Henderson. It offers collections from stamp books to photographs, along with Civil War portraits, making this a great place to visit.

Guests will enjoy the Saturday night shows at the Ridgeway Opry House from a nearby Henderson inn. Friday evening shows are also available on occasion. Visitors can be entertained by the fabulous bands for the usual cost of about $5 per person (as of 2010). Shows normally begin around 7 p.m.

Weldon is approximately 40 miles from Henderson. The Riverside Mill in Weldon boasts numerous outlet stores with designer clothing, often marked down from 50 to 75 percent off. Other popular items offered here are scented candles, pewter and brass products and a variety of beautiful jewelry. Handmade cypress furniture can be found here, from the wetlands in Carolina.

The Antiques Mall boasts 20,000 square feet of gorgeous collectibles. All these lovely products are set in a beautifully-restored antique building, and may be another great idea for things to do in Henderson. This clean and spacious treasure is usually open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

The historic cotton mill was originally powered by water and is fun to visit. Enjoy hiking along the beautiful Roanoke River Canal Trail. Heading west on the trail, visitors can view the lovely Chocoyote Creek Aqueduct. Going east on the trail leads to historic downtown Weldon and the River Falls Park.
