The Best Asheville Attractions close to Little Switzerland

Little Switzerland, NC is just off the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway, where close by you will find the best Asheville attractions. A hot air balloon ride will whisk you across the skies above Asheville, the Hominy Valley, the Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains. The flights usually run from March 1st to January 1st, but rides and takeoffs do depend on the weather, especially the wind speed. If you are willing to share a gondola, the price is about $200, or $600 for a private ride with Chateau Biltmore Champagne (2011 prices). In the fall, prices are normally $25 more. This award-winning art museum is a fabulous showcase of 20th and 21st century American art, displaying the great heritage of western North Carolina. It proudly displays some 14 exhibitions, with numerous programs and events always being held. The permanent collection exhibit includes more than 2,000 artifacts and 4,000 architectural drawings, a great place to visit from your Little Switzerland Bed and Breakfast. You can visit the museum for free if you go the first Wednesday at the beginning of the month. On the main floor, the Holden Community Gallery is always free.

The Asheville Urban Trail, also known as the "Museum without Walls," is an approximate two-hour walk around the downtown area consisting of about 30 stations of bronze statues.
