Poughkeepsie Restaurants

While you stay at your exquisite Poughkeepsie inn, be sure to enjoy the area's finest restaurants, or some of them restaurants that the locals really love. You will have a great breakfast at your Poughkeepsie b&b, but then what are you going to do about lunch and dinner.

Here are some possible choices that might just satisfy your palate and your pocketbook too!

Coyote Grill

2629 South Road
Poughkeepsie, NY 12603
Phone: (845) 471-0600
http://www.coyotegrillny.com/

A trip to Coyote Grill is sure to please your palate with all the various entrees that represent dishes from all over the world, but with most definitely Tex Mex. The mood of the restaurant is casual and upbeat and there is a definite south of the border feel to this fine eatery. Moderately priced, it offers a great martini bar and lots of finger foods. The servers are pleasant and the service is outstanding!

The River Station

One Water Street
Poughkeepsie, New York 12601
Phone: (845) 452-9207
http://www.riverstationrest.com/

The River Station is Poughkeepsie. Situated on the Hudson River between two amazing bridges, with views that inspire, the restaurant is the oldest continually operating food and drink venue in the city. And it happens to be one of the most affordable waterfront restaurants in Poughkeepsie. The River Station prides itself on its freshest of seafood and award winning chowder, but the steaks are unbelievably delicious and can be combined with shrimp or crab at a nominal fee. Sitting outside on the deck is the place your will want to be, weather permitting. The cozy indoors provides privacy and intimacy as well.

Amici's Restaurant

35 Main Street
Poughkeepsie, NY 12601
Phone: (845) 452-4700
http://www.amicis-restaurant.com/

This Italian American restaurant in the heart of Poughkeepsie and probably steps from your cozy Poughkeepsie bed and breakfast is a must-do for those who love Italian fare that is reasonably priced but delicious. While the linguini with clam sauce and five-layer lasagna are Italian classics, Amici's also likes to experiment with their entrees a bit with such tempting dishes as Italian-style paella and filet mignon with gorgonzola and apple and lobster mashed potato. For those with less of an appetite, there's great pizza and paninis too.

Mahoney's Irish Pub and Restaurant

35 Main St.
Poughkeepsie, NY 12601
Phone: (845) 471-3027
http://www.mahoneysirishpub.com/

There's always something happening at Mahoney's Irish Pub and Restaurant. It could be music with a tenor singing Irish ballads, or it could be a good time for all those enjoying the Guinness, whatever. If you arrive you are sure to be warmly greeted and filled with the cuisine of Ireland, such as Moira's shepherd pie or corned beef and cabbage. Emmett's fish and chips and Dooley's bangers and mash are also favorites. If you want something less Celtic, there are always the great burgers. The price here is right and the ambience relaxed.

Spanky's Restaurant

85 Main Street
Poughkeepsie, NY 12601
Phone: (845) 485-2294

For a completely different dining experience, try Spanky's Restaurant, a casual and reasonable spot in downtown Poughkeepsie. Although located in the Northeast, it serves up great Southern-style food, complete with Voodoo pasta, chicken and andouille, and buttermilk fried chicken with waffles, a real southern standard. Jambalaya and low country shrimp and grits are other favorites of the eclectic-style restaurant, where, it seems, everyone knows your name!
