Mt Mansfield State Park is a 34,000-acre forest located around Mt. Mansfield. This area has something for everyone no matter what you like doing while you are outside. Mt. Mansfield is the state's highest peak and it climbs to 4,300 feet above sea level. There are also ski resorts located on the mountain.
The Mt. Mansfield Ski area has a gondola, Alpine slide and a lift up to the summit. This means that even people who don't enjoy hiking will be able to find something enjoyable to do. Underhill state park is located close to Mt. Mansfield and has some great views of the mountain itself and the surrounding forest. The state park is open 10 AM until 9 PM every day and is a popular location for tourists. This park is home to a campground and lots of hiking trails. The most popular activity when visiting Underhill state park is to go hiking on the many miles of trails which pass through some splendid untouched natural beauty.

Elmore State park is located around Elmore Lake which is an area of outstanding natural beauty. This park is open from 10 AM to 9 PM every day and also has a camp site. This is a huge park consisting of 23,000 acres of amazing forest and open spaces. Lake Elmore itself is 219 acres and is popular with anglers looking to catch fish. The campground has restrooms, hot showers and an RV dump station. There aren't however any electrical hookups, which can be inconvenient for anyone visiting with an RV. Ben and Jerry's Ice cream factory is also within easy reach of Elmore state park.

Putnam State forest is another state park located close to Mt. Mansfield and this is also very popular with tourists. This is a 146-acre state park which consists mostly of a forested area. There are lots of trails throughout the park which are very popular with hikers. Hunting and wildlife watching are also very popular in the area.
