For those who want to take a hike, there are fitness trails that you can go on before heading back to your Plainfield Bed and Breakfast.

Green Brook Park is the other one of the two county parks in Plainfield, and it occupies both the Plainfield and North Plainfield banks of the Green Brook. It's peaceful and has an expanse of green lawn which contains a baseball and soccer field. There is a basketball court and a children's playground. The picnic area has picnic tables and barbecue grills. Go fishing at the Breen Brook and catch a few before going back to your Plainfield Inn.

Called an island park, you have to cross the historic Raritan Power Canal to get here. This 343-acre park has five picnic areas with three pavilions, picnic tables and barbecue grills, some bordering the scenic river trail. Play softball and soccer or go ice skating and cross country skiing in the wintertime. Go fishing at the Raritan River for both beginner and expert anglers. There are trails for hikers and nature lovers which follow the banks of the river going into the woods. Duke Island Park is one of the New Jersey parks you should visit while you're here.

Warinanco Park is just 10 miles from Plainfield. When you enter the park, you see the beautiful garden, lake and the paddle boats. This  park has facilities for baseball, basketball, cricket, handball, soccer and softball. It has a fitness trail, bike path and running track. The Warinanco Skating Center is a semi-enclosed ice rink.

Echo Lake Park in Mountainside is about six miles from Plainfield. It has a soccer and softball field, and a fitness trail. The picnic area is a great place to bring your family for a barbecue.
