One of the newest festivals to hit Grand Haven, Michigan is the 2nd Annual Grand Pizza Fest. This is no ordinary pie, this is the most sought after and eaten pie in the United States...we're talking Pizza of course! Pizzerias are prevalent throughout America from chains to family owned and Grand Haven Michigan is no exception.

The Grand Pizza Fest takes place on Saturday, March 23th at the Grand Haven Community Center from 12:30pm to 4pm and will feature pies from local pizzerias. Admission to the event is $10 for pizza or $15 for pizza and beer. Admission fee will allow you a slice from each pie in the running for Grandest Pizza and a ballot. If you are one of the first 250 people in the door you will be able to take home your very own Grand Pizza Fest apron to commemorate the event. Children 10 and under get in free with a paid adult admission.

Pie eating enthusiasts may want to stick around and enter the 2013 Pizza Pie Eating Contest. Last year the winner ate the whole thing in just over three minutes. Will this year's winner beat that speed? We will have to wait and see! The 2nd Annual Grand Pizza Fest is sure to be a big success again this year. There will be lots of pizza, live entertainment and prizes. Hope to see you there!

ARTISAN COOKING SCHOOL: DINNER AND A CHEF

Turn on the TV and you are bound to see an advertisement for a culinary program. Whether it is The Taste, Hell's Kitchen, Top Chef and Iron Chef, just to name a few; have made being in the kitchen popular again! Well, the Artisan Cooking School in Grand Haven, Michigan is taking it a step forward with their "Dinner and a Chef" held on March 28th. The specialty of the night is "Artisan Favorite" and the three course menu will include:

  • First Course: Mixed Greens with Toasted Pine Nuts, Lardons of Hickory Smoked Bacon, Amish Blue Cheese, Julienne of Apple Pear,
  • Entree: Grilled Beef Tenderloin Filet on Caramelized Mushroom Risotto, Roasted Butternut Squash with Cinnamon Pear Balsamic Finish and a Cabernet Demi-glace
  • Dessert: Warm Chocolate Volcano Cake with Crème Anglaise and Berry Coulis

The menu sounds delicious! Dinner is served at 6:30pm and the interactive event will allow you to ask the chef questions as to preparation of food, special ingredients and flavor combinations or alterations to the dish. The cost for dinner is $35 and advanced reservations are required.
