Not much more than a stone's throw from Lake Michigan, the town of Fennville is a vacationer's paradise in an unlikely place. The state of Michigan is often associated with snow, ice and winter activities. Many forget about the cool, mild summers and hundreds of miles of sandy beaches than seem to melt into the blue waters of the Great Lakes.

Fenn Valley Winery and Vineyards
6110 122nd Ave
Fennville, MI 49408
For a taste of wines northern style, BBonline recommends a trip to the Fenn Valley Winery and Vineyards. It does an outstanding job with wine in a part of the country that isn't exactly ideal for grape growing. The Fenn Valley Winery creates some delicious flavors with the resources that they have. The red graped wines are unfortunately rather limited, due to the long winters in Michigan. However, they make some great German style white wines and fruit wines from raspberries, blackberries, cherries and blueberries. The Fenn Valley Winery allows free wine tasting during regular opening hours but do limit guests to 5 choices. Visitors are welcome to purchase a bottle and enjoy it in their beautiful gardens. Booking a room in a nearby Fennville Bed and Breakfast can allow you the freedom to wine taste without having to designate a driver.
Pier Cove Beach
Saugatuck, Mi 49453
The Pier Cove Beach is one of Lake Michigan's finest. The beautiful sand and cool waters make it a perfect day out for the family. Pier Cove Beach is located near the lake shore town of Saugatuck, known for its conservative views and Dutch values. A stroll through the town is definitely worth pulling yourself off the beach. It's charming and quaint with the essence of The Netherlands around every corner. Pier Cove Beach has the reputation of being one of the cleanest along the lake shore. It is also a dog friendly beach, but the rules are strict. Dogs must be controlled with leashes and any mess cleaned up and disposed of correctly. Staying in a Fennville Inn will allow area visitors to experience the best of the beaches and the gorgeous little town of Saugatuck.
