A popular fixture in downtown Amherst, Antonio's Pizza serves pizza by the slice and is open 7 days a week from 10 am to 2 am. Thought by a lot of Amherst Umass students and town locals to be the best pizza in the Valley, they offer a wide range of flavors and topping combinations, from chicken and meat to salad and vegetarian to pesto. Make sure you read the specials written on a dry-erase board in the window before entering the place. A cafe and sandwich shop, Loose Goose Cafe has a menu with dishes named after jazz legends. They have breakfast fare such as Brubeck (egg, swiss and ham sandwich for $3.95), The Coltrane (egg, cheddar and turkey sandwich for $3.95) and Dizzy (smoked salmon, tomato, red onion and cream cheese on a bagel for $5.25). Their main courses include Fitzgerald (chicken breast, tomatoes, green leaf, garlic and herb goat cheese, chipotle aioli for $7.25) and The Armstrong (roast beef, swiss cheese, green leaf, tomatoes and creole blue cheese mayo for $7.25). Tucked in a small walkway between Main Street and the downtown parking lot, Bueno y Sano has been serving quesadillas, burritos, tacos and salads since 1995. Their deliciously filling standard burritos are priced at $5. One is enough to make your tummy happy and well-fed.
