Nature lovers take a lovely walk at Moose Point State Park. There are three trails: Moose Trail, Big Spruce Trail and Meadow Trail. You may see native wildlife, an apple orchard and large spruce trees while walking the park. If you get tired, there are benches along the trails for resting.
Visitors are welcome to picnic at the many picnic tables or let the kids enjoy the playground. A covered gazebo or group shelter provides the option for large families. Parking is in two areas. The larger parking lot is closer to the picnic tables. The smaller lot sits close to the group shelter.
Here are a few things to know when you visit Moose Point. If you bring a pet, it must be on a leash. The leash should be no more than four feet long. Please keep the park clean by picking up after your pet. Also, no bike riding is allowed on the trails.

The island Fort Point State Park presents a good place for fishing near your Searsport Inn. There's 154 acres of space for having a picnic or boating. For a better fishing experience in Penobscot River, try the pier. Hike or walk the various trails on the island. Other opportunities include bicycling, paddling and sightseeing.
You'll also find the historical sites Fort Pownall, Fort Point Hotel and Fort Point Light Station. Constructed as a military stronghold, Fort Pownall later became a trading center. Fort Point Hotel was built to attract tourists to the island. It failed to do so and burned down years later. See what remains of the hotel on the island. Fort Point Light Station served as a guide to ships coming down the Penobscot River. Its beacon still shines bright.

About 30 minutes from Searsport is Camden Hills State Park. This park makes a good outing from your Searsport Bed and Breakfast. The park features great views of Penobscot Bay and the city of Camden. On a sunny day, see Cadillac Mountain in Arcadia National Park. If you like hiking, take a long one up the trails leading to Mt. Megunticook.
One of the most interesting things about Camden Hills State Park is the ability to watch the ships come into harbor and see whales swim in the bay. It's also located minutes from Camden in case you wanted to go shopping or dine. The rest of the views are outstanding, especially in the fall. Hillsides change with the seasons, providing a beautiful scenery of bright colors. Available activities include boating, hunting, horseback riding and camping. There are picnic tables and a group picnic shelter as well.
