Fish Graham Lake While Visiting Acadia Schoodic

Graham Lake is located in Hancock County about 4 miles from Ellsworth, Maine. It's a man-made lake that was formed in 1922 by the construction if a hydroelectric power dam. The dam continues to generate electricity for Pennsylvania Power & Light. Graham Lake has a surface area of about 9,383 acres, which provides you with plenty of places to fish.

Graham Lake
Mariaville
Hancock County, Maine

If you're looking to fish from shore, there are about 90 miles of shoreline, but be mindful of private property. The deepest point of the lake is 47 feet, but the average depth is 17 feet, so you won't have any problems with a boat. The water clarity is low, but there are still plenty of fish. Fish in this lake that interest fishermen the most are smallmouth bass, chain pickerel, landlocked salmon, brook trout and white perch.

Branch Lake
Ellsworth Township
Hancock County, Maine

Branch Lake is located between Bangor and Ellsworth and is known as one of the better fishing spots in eastern Maine. The lake covers 2,703 acres, so it's not as big as Graham Lake, but at 124 feet it is quite a bit deeper. Fish that you will find in the lake include brook trout, brown trout, smallmouth bass, lake trout and salmon. If you do happen to catch a brown trout, there is a 20-inch minimum length required in order to keep it. If you will be using a boat to fish you will want to launch it from Hanson's Landing, which requires a small fee.

Leonard Lake
Ellsworth Township
Hancock County, Maine

Located no more than 30 minutes away from your Acadia Schoodic Bed and Breakfast, the 90 acres of Leonard Lake provide a great fishing spot. The deepest part of the lake is 55 feet, but the high temperature of the water makes this a bad spot for coldwater species. During the summer the water at the deepest point of the lake still reaches 63 degrees, while surface temperatures are around 75 degrees. You can launch your boat directly about a 1/2 mile above the dam on Branch Lake Road. Smallmouth bass and white perch are the best fish to catch in this lake.

Lake Wood
Bar Harbor
Hancock County, Maine

Lake Wood is located within Acadia National Park, so it's just a short drive away from any Acadia Schoodic Inn. Lake Wood is shallow with a maximum depth of 11 feet, so you will not be able to use a boat. To reach the lake you need to take a short walk down the road to the shoreline. While fishing you will want to watch out for swimmers; they frequent the lake because of how secluded it is. Most of the fish that you can catch here are considered baitfish, such as the white sucker that makes great bait. Brook trout are also stocked in the pound and can reach lengths of up to 10 feet.
