St. Petersburg Things to Do: 5 Romantic Beach Spots

Nestled between the Gulf of Mexico and Boca Ciega Bay, St. Pete Beach has no shortage of water, sunsets and romance. If you're looking for a romantic spot on St. Pete Beach, things to do include romantic sails, strolls along the beach or watching the sunset over the gulf from one of the beach's many restaurants. BBonline recommends these 5 romantic spots.

Dolphin Landings Charter Boat Center
4737 Gulf Boulevard
St. Pete Beach, FL 33706
(727) 360-7411

Located behind the Publix shopping plaze on Boca Ciega Bay on St. Pete Beach, things to do at this charter boat center go way beyond the romantic, but the captains and crew at Dolphin Landings cater to romance on their sunset sails. These two hour sails take you out to the Gulf of Mexico where you can watch the sun set over the water. On a clear night you can see the mysterious Green Flash, and on cold nights you can snuggle under a blanket under the moonlight while you sip hot cocoa after the sun goes down.

If you're looking for even more romance, you can charter a sailboat for just the two of you. Dolphin Landings provides the captain and crew and can even marry you at sea. Looking to pop the big question? Nothing says romance like a proposal at sunset on a sailboat.

Dolphin Landings also has boats that depart from downtown St. Petersburg, so if your St. Petersburg Bed and Breakfast isn't on the beach you can still have a romantic sunset sail.

St. Pete Pier
800 2nd Avenue
St. Petersburg, FL 33701

Carriage rides at the St. Pete Pier offer the romance of a moonlit horse-drawn carriage along the waterfront. These private rides let you admire the moon and stars on the water while enjoying some alone time together.

Wineburgers

Tierra Verde, FL 33715

Cocktails at sunset can be tricky because St. Pete Beach doesn't allow alcohol on the beach, but there are a few lovely night spots where you can have a quiet, romantic drink or meal and watch the sun go down. Wineburgers, located between St. Petersburg and St. Pete Beach, offers a quiet vista on the balcony for watching the sun go down. Wineburgers sells wine, beer and burgers and has only a handful of tables out on the patio, but the view of the sunset is tremendous. Enjoy a glass of wine as the sun goes down before or after dinner there, or anywhere else close to your St. Petersburg inn.

The Vinoy Verandah
501 5th Avenue NE
St. Petersburg, FL 33701
(727) 894-1000

The Renaissance Vinoy Resort and Tennis Club has a bevy of restaurants, but the Verandah is the prime spot for lovers. It doesn't have its own bar, but go inside to Marchand's and get a drink and bring it out to the wide porch, to enjoy the stars on the water from one of its wicker loveseats.

Don CeSar's Beachside Bar and Grill
3400 Gulf Boulevard
St. Pete Beach, FL 33706
(727) 360-1881

Have dinner at the Don CeSar's Beachside Bar and Grill and watch the dun dip into the sparkling green waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The Beachside Bar and Grill is perfect for a drink or dinner on the soft sand along St. Pete Beach. Things to do at the Don before or after sunset include a historic tour of the hotel or dessert at the Sea Porch Cafe. Stroll down the beach to Pass-a-Grille and watch the stars sparkle on the water or collect shells from between the rocks at the southern tip of the beach at low tide.
