If you have an adventurous spirit, hot air ballooning is an outdoor activity that will give you the ultimate view of the Gulf Coast area. This 1-hour balloon ride will set you back $250.00 per person, but is an experience to remember. Passengers are required to help with launch and retrieval of the balloon, adding to the experience. You are required to sign a disclaimer acknowledging the risk, which may be a little intimidating, but the views of the Alabama Gulf Shores are amazing.

Dauphin Island is a small island off the coast of Alabama. There are several attractions on the island which can be accessed by driving across the bridge or by ferry. Visit the bird sanctuary with its 164-acre refuge featuring a range of habitats including lake, forest, beach, and swamp. There is a 1,000-foot boardwalk that is handicap accessible. You will see a large variety of birds, including songbirds, hummingbirds, and even butterflies.

Your Alabama Gulf Shores vacation would not be complete without visiting the estuarium and aquarium at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab. It highlights the four habitats of Alabama's gulf in a 10,000 square foot exhibition hall and living marsh boardwalk. Adult admission is $7.00, and no bikini tops are allowed. The lab is open year round with hours depending on the season. This is a great educational experience that will entertain and amaze you before you head back to your Bay Minette inn for the night.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              The Gulf Shores Zoo is a stone's throw away from the beach and houses almost 300 animals. It has a reptile house, aviary, daily animal shows, and a petting zoo for those little hands. During certain seasons, the zoo has a special exhibit called animal encounters where you can interact with the animals, such as kangaroos, Bengal tigers, and lemurs. Adult admission is $10.00, while kids get in for only $7.00. The zoo is open daily from 9:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m.

Waterville is not only a water park, but also an amusement park with over 20 acres of fun. The park has over 300 employees including many certified by the American Red Cross in administering first aid. The rides vary in excitement from the ultimate in water slides to the lazy river and even a bouncy house for little ones. The water park is open through the summer months from May through August. The amusement park is open in the spring and fall when the water park is closed. General admission for the water park is $29.95, and $24.95 for the amusement park. There are no charges for parking. No food or drinks are allowed to be brought into the park, but concessions are available to buy. The park is closed from October to March.
