The Jazz Festival has been a part of Alexander City's history since 1990. The event is held for two days in June. Friday's events take place in Strand Park in downtown Alexander City. Saturday's activities are held at the amphitheater on Lake Martin. The festivities kickoff at 6:00 p.m. Friday night with some of the crowd's favorite jazz performers. The concert continues late into the night. The concert begins again on Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. and continues until nearly midnight. Admission is free. Enjoy the concert before heading back to your Alexander City bed and breakfast.

Oktoberfest is a celebration of fall that has been going on since 1980. The festival begins on a Friday evening and is usually held the first week in October. The festivities take place at the Charles E. Bailey, Sr. Sports Complex and Grounds just off Highway 22 in Alexander City. Vendors begin setting up Friday morning with unique wares, arts and craft items, and a variety of food choices. There is live entertainment and music during the festival. The Custom Car and Truck Show takes place on Saturday. There is a special area for children, and admission is free to all.

4th of July Celebration

One of the most exciting places to be on the 4th of July is the celebration on Lake Martin. The festivities begin with a holiday themed boat parade. Prizes are given for boats based on the size of their flag, most patriotic and most creative. You can watch the boats as they travel from Kowaliga Marina to Children's Harbor. There is a parade near Shoreline Road at 11:00 a.m. with lots of candy and trinkets for the kids. The concert begins at 7:00 p.m. at the Lake Martin Amphitheater. Concert tickets are $15 each. Watch the fireworks over the lake around 9:00 p.m. Lake Martin is just a short drive from your Alexander City inn.

The Chidren's Harbor Art on the Lake is an event held in May to benefit the Children's Harbor. Many artists and craftsmen will set up and sell their wares to benefit Children's Harbor, which offers support, education and recreation for children with disabilities and serious illnesses. This nonprofit organization began in 1990 and continues its mission through the generosity of sponsors. The two-day event brings in people by boat and car. There are a variety of items for sale including food as well as a children's corner and live entertainment. All proceeds benefit Children's Harbor.
