Area Activities and Attractions

Tucked away in the River Valley of Arkansas is the quaint town of Dardanelle and The Magnolia Inn Bed & Breakfast. During your visit at Magnolia Inn you can enjoy the many activities the River Valley has to offer. We are literally surrounded by 4 state parks, a national wildlife refugee, two national forests and numerous lakes and rivers.
Golf in the River Valley

Three golf courses are minutes from Magnolia Inn. Chamberlyne Country Club Golf Course is carved out of rolling pastures and woods along the edge of the Ouachita National Forest. Galla Creek Golf Course is an attractive par 71 layout at Pottsville and you will also find the John Daly owned golf course, the Lion's Den.

Top Notch Fishing & Water Sports

Visit Lake Dardanelle Visitors Center and plan a day on the lake; fishing, water skiing, and boating. Lake Dardanelle and the Arkansas River are well known for sport fishing and host nationally-recognized fishing tournaments each year.

Mt. Nebo, Mt. Magazine and Petit Jean Mountain, The Tri-Peaks of the River Valley

The Tri-Peaks Region -- The Arkansas River Valley is also referred to as the Tri-Peaks region because it contains three popular mountaintop state parks. Magnolia Inn Bed and Breakfast is literally in the heart of this region, with Petit Jean to the east, Mt. Magazine to the west, and lying in the shadow of Mt. Nebo.

Mt. Magazine State Park, the highest point in Arkansas and one that affords spectacular vistas, rises from the Arkansas River Valley near Paris to an elevation of 2,753 feet above sea level. The park offers hang gliding, rappelling, camping, hiking trails and a visitors center opened in 2002 that features interpretive exhibits on the area's history and flora and fauna.

In Dardanelle, Mt. Nebo State Park is a Civilian Conservation Corps-built park with tennis courts, a swimming pool, campsites, a visitors' center, hang-gliding area, group pavilions and 14 miles of hiking trails.

In Morrilton, Petit Jean State Park is the flagship of the state parks system. The park encompasses 2,658 acres of rare natural beauty -- an abundance of unmarred woods, ravines, streams, springs, spectacular views and interesting ecological formations preserved almost as French explorers found them 300 years ago. It has a restaurant, swimming pools, campsites, boating, fishing, several hiking trails and the spectacular 95-foot Cedar Falls.
