Come and stay in country comfort. We'll provide the lodge to rest and re-energize you after an exhausting day. Whether you've been boating on beautiful Lake Guntersville, visiting the Cathedral Caverns in nearby Grant, hiking in the mountains or antique shopping, drop your bags and visit Whitaker Lodge. The original house was built in the 1930's. Local folks know of the lodge as "the old stone house." About ten years ago, additions were made to provide four guest bedrooms, a large meeting room with pool table, and a sports bar in the basement. Your hosts, the Bogacki family, opened the house to guests after realizing the need for overnight lodging in this area.

Lake Guntersville is one of the most breathtaking and versatile resort areas in the South and one of the finest sport fishing lakes in America. Located on Alabama's largest lake, Guntersville rests peacefully at the base of the majestic mountains of the Appalachian range. Travelers from all over the world marvel at the spectacular natural beauty and colorful panorama offered by 950 miles of winding shoreline and 69,000 acres of the sparkling, fun-filled waters of Lake Guntersville.

At Whitaker Lodge, you can rekindle memories of the Depression and World War II or get a great history lesson as you listen to FDR's famous Fireside Chats. Your hostess, Ellen, will have the fireplace burning and the recordings available for your listening. Other amenities include a pool table and satellite TV in all of the bedrooms. Watch your favorite team play while refreshing your thirst in the recreation room in the basement. Dine in the airy Florida room. (Meal requests must be reserved and are in addition to room rates.) Play chess, checkers, or cards in the game room.

• Rates range from $65 to $150 per night, depending on the room reserved.
• The "Sweet Suite" requires at least a 2-night reservation.
• The two bedrooms in the old section of the house share a full bath.
• Renovations are planned.
• Parking is available from Hwy 431 and Cottonville Road in the back of the lodge.
• Children 10 and older are welcome with prior advance notice.
• Your host has friendly dogs.
• Unfortunately, the lodge is not equipped to lodge your pets. Please make
  pet arrangements prior before lodging. Wendy's Pet Salon & Boarding Kennel
  offers a wonderful services for boarding pets and grooming them.
• Breakfast is always served.
• Meals/Snacks/Beverages can be arranged with your host.
• Check in after 3 p.m.
• Check out before 10 a.m.
• Please, no smoking indoors. The sun porch and patios are plentiful
  and comfortable for smoking.
