Classic Southern Hospitality

Halfway between Fairhope, Alabama and Gulf Shores, Alabama in southern Baldwin County you will find the historical community of Magnolia Springs.

This 100 year-old house which was known as "Sunnyside Hotel" in the 20s and 30s was authentically restored in 1980 and transformed into a bed & breakfast in 1996. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Magnolia Springs is a picturesque place and one of the few remaining places to receive mail by boat. If fishing is your style there is plenty of fresh and salt water fishing. Only 1 1/2 blocks away is Magnolia River offering easy access to Mobile Bay and the Gulf of Mexico.

Southern Baldwin County

Southern Baldwin County offers many activities. Just five miles west is Weeks Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve. It is a 3,000 acre facility of bays, marshes and lowlands along Weeks Bay, Bon Secour Bay and Fish River. Five miles further west is Point Clear, home of the famous "Grand Hotel". Five miles further north is Fairhope, Alabama known for their quaint downtown area of beautiful streets lined with baskets of flowers, eclectic shops and historical homes.

Nine miles to the south of the Inn lie the sandy white beaches of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. World-class golf awaits at six of the areas ten courses including one of the famous Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail courses. Foley's downtown area offers a series of unique blocks lined with old oak trees shading wide streets. There are specialty shops and an old fashioned pharmacy with a soda shop. Orange Blossom Square offers an elegant tea room, boutiques, an art gallery and an upscale emporium. You can browse through five antique malls with over 500 dealers or you could shop the 115 store Riviera Outlet Center.

Pensacola, Florida and Mobile, Alabama are located within an hour's drive to the East and West, offering airports, malls, restaurants, theaters and other city amenities.

Great Hall A heart-pine porch extends across the front and east side of the house and the impressive glass paneled door with a transom above opens to the great hall.

Walls and ceilings are made of beaded heart yellow pine. The floors are of tongue and groove heart-pine and most of the woodwork is rare curly pine. All balusters, rails and newal posts are original. Large old oak trees surround the house and the well-known canopy arch of oaks extends past the structure and down Oak Street.

The McLennan bath has the original claw-foot tub, retrieved from the back yard, and an authentically restored elephant trunk toilet.

All rates include a Three Course Breakfast, a Private Bath, well stocked Guest Refrigerator available in the dining room 24 hours a day, afternoon teas, evening desserts such as cookies or brownies fresh from the oven Iron & Ironing Board, Hairdryer, Lighted Magnifying Mirror, Cable TV, Telephones, High Speed Wireless Internet, Turn Down Service when you return from dinner w/Chocolates, and Fresh Flowers!
