Introduction
At Fellers Cove Bed & Breakfast guests can relax on a hammock under a tree or out on the wharf. Ride bikes along the bike path into the quaint village of Fairhope. Enjoy the 2,000 gallon outdoor spa. Use it as a dipping pool or as a heated Jacuzzi.
Stroll the three acre property bordered by Sweetwater Branch, a spring-fed stream with interesting history and lore. The benches on the bridge over the creek are a great place to spend time with a friend or a book. Try fishing - there's a grill available to cook your own catch! In the summertime, your visit may coincide with a Jubilee, an Eastern Shore phenomenon when fish literally come out onto the beach and are easily scooped up!
In 1976 the Fellers purchased the 2-acre property in Battles Wharf, Alabama. This is a historic district between Fairhope and Point Clear on Mobile Bay. The property was purchased from Lucille Wittmann, who had carefully and lovingly planted the numerous varieties of camellias and azaleas. Miss Wittmann's 900 sq. ft. beach cottage was a fun place for a young family with 3 small children. Two years later, after the birth of their fourth child, more space became essential.
Construction of the home, designed by a close friend and well-known Mobile architect, was completed in 1979. The essential elements of the Bayfront homes of the past were incorporated in its casual, contemporary design. Natural sunlight, views of the Bay, fresh air, decks and porches provide the atmosphere for enjoyment of Bayfront living. Twenty-eight years later, the "Younger Fellers" are young adults with families and pursuits of their own. Fellers Cove, as a Bed and Breakfast, was born in 1999. It is designed to provide comfortable accommodations and amenities for all types of travelers.
