Choco-Cherry Cookies

This is one of the simple cake/cookie recipes we use for treats to welcome our guests.

1 (18.25-ounce) package chocolate cake mix
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 large eggs
3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chunks
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup dried cherries

Beat first 3 ingredients at medium speed with an electric mixer until smooth. Stir in chocolate chunks, pecans, and dried cherries. Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets.

Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Remove to wire racks to cool. Yield: 4 1/2 dozen
