wear you down? Cove Cottage Bed and Breakfast Inn in St. Clair County can be yours
for a weekend, a week, or a month. This four-room farmhouse from the 1940s has two
bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with twin beds. The fully equipped kitchen,
with breakfast delivered to your door, means you can remain as relaxed as you wish. Chandler Mountain, viewed from the side deck, is the home of Horse Pens 40, a site that offers hiking and rock climbing if you work up the energy. These ancient rock sculptures rate internationally as a top bouldering venue where annual competitions are held. Bike-riding on Beason Cove Road is a favorite sport because of the road's level twists and turns and lovely scenery. |

Carolyn and Bernard Stern found the property 17 years ago, drawn by an ad in a Birmingham newspaper that read, “Country getaway, fruit and nut trees.” That's all it took for them to jump in their car and take a look. Bernard is the gardener and has planted asparagus, blueberries, blackberries, and pear and peach trees to add to the already productive land. The back porch has a view of the gardens on what was a
produce farm for a number of years. A playground and fairy garden, as well as a fanciful tree house with an exceptional story and mural, give youngsters a lot to explore and to inspire their own imaginations.
